Michoacana Treats is rooted in a family tradition that began over 20 years ago in Tlalpujahua, Michoacan, Mexico. Carlos, our founder, learned the art of making traditional Michoacán ice cream at a young age from his father, who had spent years perfecting his craft in the local ice cream shops of Tocumbo. Carlos started working in local homemade ice cream shops, honing his skills and perfecting the authentic flavors of his heritage. Twenty years ago, life brought him to Minnesota, where he married Ofelia and started a family. With a passion for his craft and a desire to share the rich flavors of Michoacán, Carlos opened Michoacana Treats. His goal was simple: to introduce the communities of Waite Park and St. Cloud to the traditional ice cream that has been a cherished part of his family’s history. Today, Michoacana Treats is a family-owned and operated business, dedicated to serving the authentic taste of Michoacán. Each visit is a chance to experience the genuine flavors and craftsmanship that Carlos has carried with him from Mexico to Minnesota.
